I just got back from the Scaling New Heights Accounting Conference, and it struck me how valuable it is to combine professional growth and some personal downtime.

This time, my family and I made it a point to tack on a mini vacation and check out the new Universal Epic Universe. (See photo, we had a blast!)

When you travel for work, it’s easy to rush in and out without ever stepping off the hamster wheel. But building in a few extra days to decompress can make all the difference. You return home not just with new ideas, but actually recharged enough to act on them.

With the 4th of July coming up, many of you are also taking a well-deserved break. If you’re traveling for business soon, I highly recommend turning it into a mini vacation. Your future self will thank you.
