🚀 Your People Issues Will Never Succeed If You Overlook This Key Step
Last week, I had the opportunity to speak at a mastermind session, and one of the Visionaries shared an inspiring story about her 1-on-1s with her leadership team. She talked about how impactful these conversations have been, and the feedback she received was powerful: her team members said they “felt seen” and that she truly cared about them.
It was a great reminder that consistent and meaningful communication is the key step to resolving people issues. Regular 1-on-1s give team members a space to align on Core Values, clarify Roles, and tackle Rocks head-on.
When people feel valued, heard, and understood, their engagement and performance improve dramatically.

𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝟭-𝗼𝗻-𝟭 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀:
1️⃣ 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗺: Start by asking, “What’s on your mind?” or “How can I best support you today?”
2️⃣ 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗸𝘀: Identify and remove obstacles to help them move forward.
3️⃣ 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Take time to discuss their goals and aspirations.
4️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸-𝗜𝗻𝘀: Consistency matters. Don't constantly re-schedule. These are a priority!
5️⃣ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸: Foster growth by sharing strengths and areas for improvement.
6️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝘄𝗼-𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Ask for feedback on how you can better support them.
7️⃣ 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻: Summarize clear next steps for both parties. I utilize @Nintey.io for these meetings so we can document the to-do's and add issues between meetings.
